Day in Review by Gabby Davis:
This morning during intervention block we worked on adding three numbers. During math time we worked on addition and subtraction number stories. In music we learned a really cool dance. We practiced keeping yourself going and adding more to our nonfiction books. In reading we practiced "popping out" the important information in a nonfiction book. We also practiced retelling what we learned to our reading partners. We got new reading partners today!

Day in review by Andrew Padgett:
Today at Morning Meeting a few kids shared and then we played 4-Corners. Sophia D. won! During math today we used geoboards to make different shapes. We made hexagons, pentagons, triangles, and quadrangles. We also did some work in our math journals. Our work with nonfiction writing continued today. I am writing about basketball, Caleb is writing about dragons and Austin and Luke are writing about sharks. In Music, we worked on sounds and played a freeze game. In Open Circle we talked about ways to deal with anger. We learned that after we calm ourselves down we can say to the person, "I am angry because...". We had a good day at school!

Day in review by Samantha Szmyt and Sophia Tombarelli:
It was a cold morning when we got to school and went outside to play. We began our day with Morning Meeting and a few people shared. In Library, Mrs. Buck read a book called, The Boy Who Lived With the Seals. It was about Native Americans who had a son who ran away to live with the seals. He enjoyed living with the seals so he stayed with them, but every spring he carved his family a new canoe so that they knew that he still loved them.
In math we learned about parallel line segments and that they do not cross. We drew some quadrangles with parallel sides and some without parallel sides.
In writing we learned that when you are writing nonfiction books and you realize that you don't know enough about your topic, you can write yourself a little note to remind yourself that you need to learn more about that topic so that you can add details.

Day in Review by Lauren Metcalf:
It was a chilly and snowy morning so most people wore snow pants. It was only 3 degrees when we got to school. Brrrrrrrrr. We played basketball in gym. We started our nonfiction All About books in writing. We played Addition Spin in math and practiced adding two-digit numbers. We also read nonfiction books during reading. Ms. Monmaney read a book about electricity. We learned that even electric toothbrushes have a little motor in them. Our vegetable of the day was baby carrots. Yum!

Day in review by Gabby Davis:
Today we finished up our angels that are supposed to be ornaments. We also made cinnamon ornaments. We read the Judy Moody and Stink The Holly Joliday book. In music we played a lot of musical games. A woman from Cocheco Valley Humane Society brought her dog, Sasha, to teach us about the things that pets need. We wrote thank you letters to Ms. Smith for doing a great job for the concert. Don't forget about pajama day on Friday, December 21st.

Day in review by Samara Buck:
Today we started with snack instead of Morning Meeting. Then we had Morning Meeting. After that, we had Open Circle. (We talked about dealing with teasing.) Then we went to recess and lunch. Reader's Workshop was after lunch. In music we learned rhythms to do with your hands. In Writing we learned that you can write letters about things that bother you so that people will change.
We also thought that it was super cool that we stopped for a moment when it was 12:12 on 12-12-12!

Day in review by Caleb Flintosh:
We had library today. Mrs. Buck read a Chinese book called, The Hunter. In writing today, we did more work on our "writing for change" writing. We made a chart that tells us some advice about writing for change. In Morning Meeting we practiced our holiday concert songs. We did more work with thermometers and change diagrams in math.
REMINDER: Pajama Day is on Friday, December 21, 2012.
